BOUGROS (12.6 ha) (Previously spelt Bouguerots, a spelling that has been kept by some producers) This is the north-eastern limit of the Grand Cru vineyards. Position, together with the fact that it borders on the river Serein, provides specific natural conditions. It was planted more recently than others, as its low-lying vines are especially vulnerable to frost. Being at the bottom of the hillside, the soil is quite deep and contains a higher proportion of clay and fewer stones than the others. The slope is very steep at the bottom, flattening out at the top edge. Its wines are very defined, and yet quite rounded and less austere than those from the other climats. Solid but elegant, they tend to be more accessible when young.
